Ouch . . . Papercut.

So, I was making someone a card and as I'd been looking at the work of Amy Williams (the artist not the athlete, google will confuse you) I thought I'd do a piece inspired by here beautiful papercuts.

She has said that she gets her inspiration from folklore and fairytales. As I had recently looked at one of my favourite pictures, 'Brita as Iduna' (a lithograph by Carl Larsson), I thought I would try to capture the story of Little Red Riding Hood as the girl from Larsson's picture always reminds me of Little Red.

Seeing my nose everywhere was weird.

Day Twenty One: Papier Mache / Andy Warhol Inspired

When I was requested to do 'Nose Art' I was a little stuck for ideas. As fun as sticking a pen to my nose and trying to draw a picture sounded, I knew the end result would probably not be post worthy so I decided to do a piece of art based around my nose rather than created with it.

So, I papier mache-d my nose 6 times and arranged them in way reminiscent of Andy Warhol's pop art.

I watched an insane amount of Time Team while waiting for the papier mache to dry on my face - it was good.

Mc Escher is my favourite MC.

Day Nineteen: Mc Escher style repeating pattern

Recently, I re-watched one of my favourite Stanley Kubrick film: Eyes Wide Shut. The 'Bauta Mask' has always been my favourite mask in the film and I have found it particularly striking so I decided to try and create an Mc Escher style pattern based around the design of the Bauta Mask.

I know it's not a perfect tessellation but having made a perfectly tessellating pattern a couple of times before I know you would have been waiting longer than a day for this piece of work.
